Green Index

Retail price monitoring for greens and microgreens

The greens market in numbers instead of gut feeling: what microgreens, basil or lettuce cost on the shelves of major chains, where it’s pricier, where it’s cheaper and which way the price is moving.

The problem

A city farmer entering retail chains prices blind. What the chain charges for a competitor’s product, how Kyiv differs from Lviv, whether the niche is overheated - these answers are usually gathered by hand, from a few stores, once every six months. Without a market picture, every price turns into a bet.

What Green Index does

  • Prices straight from chain shelves - the platform regularly collects prices from major grocery chains in cities across Ukraine in five categories: microgreens, salad mixes, basil, herbs, potted lettuce. The picture updates itself, no store visits required.
  • Price per 100 g - pack sizes differ, so everything is brought to a common unit. A 50 g pack and a 100 g tray are compared fairly, not by the price tag.
  • Map, chains and cities - chain rankings against the market average, the most and least expensive cities, a city × chain heatmap. You see where to come in with a higher price and where you’ll have to compete.
  • Dynamics - a 30-day chart and price history for every item. Seasonal swings show up before they hit revenue.
  • Monthly reports - a short market summary with the month’s numbers, in an open archive.

AI at work: catches trends and price anomalies → decisions ahead of the curve, not behind it.

Who it’s for

City farmers and farmers growing microgreens and herbs - to price from the market, not from a guess at cost. Buyers and retailers - to see how their shelf looks next to competitors. The dashboard is open on UAorganic, in Ukrainian and English.
